Bike Month 2019

Rain or shine, the 29th Annual SANDAG Bike to Work Day was Thursday, May 16, 2019!  

Bike to Work Day is a nationally recognized event celebrated annually in May. Since May is also National Bike Month, San Diegans have opportunities to GO by BIKE all month long. Bike Month 2019 supports biking as an everyday, environmentally friendly, cost-saving commute choice.

29th Annual SANDAG Bike to Work Day. Bike to Work Day was celebrated in the San Diego region on Thursday, May 16. Stay tuned for more information and stats from Bike to Work Day 2019.

Pit stops. A total of 100 Bike to Work Day pit stops were open from 6 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 16 for anyone who registered. Pit stops offered fun breaks for bike riders to rest and pick up a free t-shirt (sponsored by JUMP by Uber), snacks, and encouragement. Get social. Share your Bike to Work Day experience using the official hashtag #BiketoWorkSD. We’re also hosting a Facebook contest to find San Diego’s favorite bike commuter, bike commuter group, and Bike to Work Day pit stop! Vote by liking or loving your favorite photo on our @iCommuteSD Facebook page by Friday, May 24 at 12 p.m. The photo with the most likes and loves in each category will win a prize package! Bike to Work classes and events. Employers - take advantage of FREE bike services offered by SANDAG iCommute. Register for a free, on-site bike education class to get employees comfortable with riding. Participating employees can even receive free bike safety checks. Register for a free bike class.

2019 GO by BIKE Mini-Grant program. In support of the 29th Annual SANDAG Bike to Work Day on Thursday, May 16, 2019 and National Bike Month in May, the SANDAG GO by BIKE and iCommute teams have awarded mini-grants to 20 organizations for programs or projects that promote biking through outreach and education this March through June. Stay tuned to learn more about how you can participate in the recipients’ programs and events, which will all be open to the public.
