Employer Services Registration Form

 

SANDAG iCommute bike education classes are now offered virtually or in person to continue to help your employees GO by Bike! All classes are taught by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition’s certified instructors. The classes are designed to be 1 hour, including Q&A, and can be customized to meet the needs of your organization. Translation services are available upon request.

Registration for bike services is on a first-come, first-served basis.

After your organization registers, you will receive a confirmation email with more details. A representative will follow up with you within three business days to schedule a date and time for your selected employer bike services.

Class Descriptions:

Bike Maintenance Quick Check- A local bike shop mechanic will offer a quick bike check for safe riding and will cover the top 5 things to know when riding your bike to work. The maintenance check will include:

  • Minor brake and gear adjustments
  • Chain check and lube
  • Tires checked and inflated
  • All nuts and bolts checked for proper tightness
  • Necessary seat height adjustments

Bike Commuting Class 101- This class covers the essential skills for riding to work safely and legally for both interested and experienced bike commuters. Topics covered:

  • Basic route planning strategies
  • Bike lanes and other regular infrastructure types
  • Common safety concerns
  • Valuable tips to make bike commuting more comfortable and fun

Bike Commuting Class 202- This class continues beyond the 101 class with a range of skills and information to help employees become more confident bike commuters. Topics covered:

  • How to choose the right bike for your specific conditions, style, and fit (including e-bike options)
  • Defensive maneuvers and riding skills
  • How to carry gear on a bike
  • Advanced route planning

E-Bike Safety Class- This class includes the rules of the road for all bike riders but focuses specifically on regulations for e-bikes. Topics covered:

  • Tips on where to ride
  • How to ride legally and safely
  • Different classes of e-bikes and their specific regulations

Bike Friendly Driver Class- This class will teach employees about the road rules, from the point of view of the car driver, and what to expect when interacting with bicycle drivers on the road. Topics covered:

  • How cyclists think and move on the roads
  • Best practices for car drivers sharing the road with cyclists
  • Laws regarding right-of-way, lane positioning, and passing
